Welcome to Ruidoso. A high-altitude escape known for both adventure and rejuvenation. Hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking and horse back riding surround us. Alpine skiing, boutique shopping, year-round golf, the acclaimed Spencer Theater and world-class gaming are just a few attractions found in this quaint mountain village nestled in the pristine Sacramento Mountains. Lincoln National Forest
Much of what gives Ruidoso its natural beauty is the Lincoln National Forest and there are plenty of ways to explore it. The forest features three different sections with the Smokey Bear Ranger District covering the area around Ruidoso. In this patch, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, picnicking, scenic viewing and a host of winter activities. Guests will want to stop off at Ski Apache during the winter for skiing and snowboarding opportunities.

White Sands National Park
White Sands is like no place on Earth. Rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin is one of the world's great natural wonders - the glistening white sands of New Mexico. Great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert, creating the world's largest gypsum dunefield. White Sands National Park preserves a major portion of this unique dunefield, along with the plants and animals that live here.

Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Casino
Ruidoso Downs Race Track is a great place to go to catch a horse race. Many of the races take place between May and September and cover multiple days. Along with a bevy of races, the Billy the Kid Casino also sits on the grounds, which offers a host of gambling opportunities. The casino features a sports bar and grill that allows for simulcast wagering. The casino is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

Today's visitors can see the Old Lincoln County Courthouse with museum exhibits that recount the details of the Lincoln County War and the historic use of the "House" as store, residence, Masonic Lodge, courthouse, and jail. Walk in the footsteps of Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and other famous and infamous characters of the Wild West. Trace the events of 1878 through the Courthouse and the Tunstall Store, with their preserved 19th-century atmosphere.

The theater features a short film about how forest health and fire impact our lives today. On the grounds of the park is Smokey Bear's final resting place.

Three Rivers Petroglyphs are outstanding examples of prehistoric Jornada Mogollon rock art. The basaltic ridge rising above the Three Rivers Valley contains over 21,000 petroglyphs, including masks, sunbursts, wildlife, handprints, and geometric designs. The number and concentration of petroglyphs make this one of the largest and most interesting rock art sites in the Southwest. A rugged 0.5-mile trail begins at the visitor shelter and links many of the most interesting petroglyphs. Another short trail begins on the east side of the picnic area and leads to a partially excavated prehistoric village.

Pillow's Funtrackers is a great family-friendly activity that features activities for all those involved. The family fun center features go-karts, mini-golf, bumper boats, an arcade and many other fun activities. Tickets are required for all rides and are on a per-person basis. Prices range from $7 for most attractions to $10 for Panning for Gemstones. Pillow's Funtackers is open most days during the summer and spring but does feature seasons hours year-round.
